Where Did You Go
WHERE DID YOU GO When did the flame go out, behind those eyes of green Are you reminiscing younger days, do you know where you have been When you are remembering, a place or time gone by Can’t you bear to leave the past behind, no matter how you try Do you wonder who the faces are, in the silver picture frame You look at me, and I just wish, that you could say my name Are you sitting waiting patiently, for your dashing knight to come Is there nothing there to let you know, you're a Nanny, Wife and Mum When I wake you in the morning, sometimes I find a tear Deep inside, are your emotions wrecked with guilt and fear It's so sad to watch the grandkids, as they hug and hold your hand They sort of know you love them, but they don't understand It's so unfair, this sentence, to take a lifetime's memory To rob you of emotion and the way you used to be If only you could love the kids and reassure them with a kiss But they know you can’t, you never will and it's the very thing they miss
