On My Way To Work
On My Way to Work As usual, I was on my way to work. As I was driving along, I was already busy thinking about problems and my situation at work—restarting all over again at the very point I had left off at work last evening before going home. Suddenly and most surprisingly, I started to notice just how wondrously beautiful this morning was—with its sunbeams radiantly shining over the countryside, the fresh air, and trees covered all over with blossoms. With all this enchanted pleasantry, I began to wonder: What is really the difference between a tree along the road and us—as humans? The tree needs water, nutrients, sunlight and fresh air; a place to live, atoms and molecules—and, at the end, there are not really any basic differences at all since trees and humans are both living organisms here on Earth subject to the same basic support provided on God’s behalf by Mother Nature. Yet, there is one really big difference: We (humans) allow the never-ending, inner-circus-cinema moments of our mental doubts to screw up our entire day! So much for the vaunted and overrated “mental superiority” of human beings, eh? Really? As I finally reach my work place now, still with a smile on my face, I begin searching for a place to park my car. At that very moment, there was another car starting to leave so I could take its spot. It was a car from another company located in our city. And then, to my utter amazement, I just happened to notice a special logo on the side of that car with the company owner’s last name: “Peace.” I was really surprised at this simple course of events leading up to this very special moment. Yet, at the same time, I was totally at ease with a complete sense of peace with my true inner self. Still feeling being one with nature as God’s own creation, I then suddenly realized the lesson I was taught this morning of a simple workday: If you want to experience peace you have to cut out first those never-ending, inner-circus-cinema moments of mental anguish. Only then, can you be at ease to appreciate this special moment on this day, and you feel you are part of nature and creation—and are in harmony and peace. I was very much touched, and told myself: Whenever you are feeling stressed, busy and alone, remember this very morning—and closeout the mind-chatter and just focus on nature—there you can always be one with nature, and therein lies real peace and harmony.
