Keepin' My Rose
Searchin' for proof of beauty A treasure hunter found a rose He plucked it from the snow And brought it to his nose He took it home quickly And placed it in a vase Added water and nutrients Then displayed it in a ornate case He cared for it daily Adding this and that to preserve and protect But time decays even the best Though he never entertained neglect Others pointed out the crunch And the fall of the petals to the base But the man was determined To keep the rose in its rightful place "It's dead and gone", they'd say "Just take it out and buy another" An object can be replaced But meaning has a mother Attached to belief and thought Nothing can truly be free Unless it is released by love To be what it wants to be Written by Trudy Schrader on 05-01-2018 Note: I hate it when you have grown into a new person in the way you think, feel, and relate to people but the "old ones" refuse to KNOW you any other way than how they thought they knew you in the past :(
