International Digestion
I’m in bed with my eyes closed and I hear a loud scary sound so I open my eyes, sit up, and look around the room and see nothing other than what’s always been in my room. So I lie down again, close my eyes, and wait. Then the scary sound happens again only this time I recognize it’s my stomach talking about what I ate for dinner. That’s when I began to contemplate how to talk back to my stomach using its unique grumbling squeaking language so I can get a good night’s sleep. Then I thought about the over three hundred million people that lived in different cities across the country, and all the other countries on the planet, and how we humans age year by year and realized we all had something in common; all our stomachs talk using the same language after eating a meal, especially a couple of hours before going to sleep. That’s when I realized I was in fact an international gourmand. I loved eating Italian food, and Chinese food, and Mexican food, and Japanese food, and American hamburgers cooked on a grill.
