Last Goodbye
Life is a gift wrapped in struggle Decorated by memories And tied with a ribbon of love. But this gift is finite. We prepare ourselves with the knowledge of not knowing. Knowing we will die Not knowing when, or how, or who. We try to find people we can hold onto, our parents, our family and our friends. Pulling the wrappings off one by one, our hearts become bolder and stronger. But mine is breaking. I've known my whole life that people die. My parents will. But not you. You were good, You were my best friend. See, I put these people who have passed away, away inside a room in my mind and I lock the door So that I don't think about them anymore. But I can't put you in there, You're too big, your heart is to big You don't fit, you don't fit! It hurts me man! Waking up every day knowing you're not here. Knowing that my friend isn't going to call, Knowing my friend isn’t going to be by my side. But somehow, I envy you. How you’re up there and I'm stuck here struggling, trying to find the urge to leave my room and explore a world where my best friend isn’t going to be there. No, I’m not going to talk like that. So, I came here today, to let you know that this is the last time I'm coming here. This is the last time I'm going to come here and cry at your name written in that stone in the ground. I've got to say goodbye. I love you old friend, may you be in my heart forever. Goodbye.
