Fare Thee Well
Last summer we flew kites like they were rocket ships in the sky. You died- indigo clouds cried; now my lonely string weeps... you were pain and torment personified. We used to watch medallion leaves burn in autumn, smelling the blazing embers of yesterday’s memories. You died- crimson grieves inside; now my lungs miss your fervent scent… pushed your fears aside. "Intensely we tarried through lavender fields, reminiscing upon carefree youthful dreams- using broken barren branches as playful shields, strolling around the river bank streams. I heard the silence, I counted the screams, now not even the pangs of conscience yields." Fare thee well my brilliant bright star, I watched you fade into the universe’s nothingness. You died- constellations crashed the tide; now my black-holed heart mourns… since you committed suicide. New Poems Only Poetry Contest 24 lines total in this poem Emile Pinet April 12, 2018
