Yesterday's Tempest
We set out yesterday Like any other day Blissfully unaware Of what was brewing Ignoring subtle signals And misty warnings Busy with our lives Harried and parallel Out of nowhere A wild tempest roared Rough and bitter Seemed would never end Or if it were to wash away It would surely get the best of us So we let the worst of it settle Till appeared a glowing crimson sunset The damage all but forgotten Reduced to a lingering shadow Over flickering moonlit ripples on the sea Diluted and brought in pieces back to shore While a harvest moon rose overhead Melting everything in pools of grace Chaos cautiously dissipated Love again was in the air AP: 3rd place 2021, Honorable Mention 2020 Submitted on April 8, 2018 for contest TEN WORDS sponsored by JOSEPH MAY - RANKED 4TH
