I was just a wife in need of proper good council, and yet- instead, I received prescriptions that were too much for my mind to embrace; too harsh on my body. The more medications manufactured the more money is received- The more money received the more powerful they become in ways that are too much to comprehend. Sales reps give out free samples claiming their medication is the new fix for problems they know nothing about. An army of lies, deceit- Doctors meet dozens a day and receive nothing but an enhanced sales pitch for monetary compensation. How safe is the medication? Does it really cause alleviation? Does it really cause death, or give a numbing sensation? Answers we will never know… because there’s too much pharmaceutical drug flow. GlaxoSmithKline is under investigation for handing out bribes to Chinese doctors, government officials, hospital administrators, and anyone else who is desperate enough to get their selfish hands on a product that actually has harsh side effects. Many companies dowse themselves in buckets of deception just for a quick dollar. I became diligent. I did my research- I was attentive. Laborious to find answers. I discovered after many long hours that it costs only ten dollars and fifty-four cents to manufacture a thirty day supply of Sapphris, a medication for depression and anxiety. The factual matter is that people are paying excessively; one thousand three hundred dollars is outrageous! In America, the pharmaceutical trade is the third most profitable activity after finance. Makes my mind spin; my body fill with abhor. I realize and recognize curing a disease is bad for business. I have been a woman centered around poor side effects of medications I was never properly counselled on; no list in the pharmacy print out paperwork ever stated I could possibly become more depressed or anxious, even suicidal to the worst degree from a medication that’s supposed to alleviate my condition. I find these problems all-consuming by nature- a conundrum aching for the riddle to be solved with honesty and integrity. I finally was rest assured by the sincerity of a physician who actually cared enough to give proper support. Social Discontent Contest Brenda J. Simons April 1, 2018
