A Lottery Ticket
The moon is yellow as mustard stain by turmeric I dream of riches but I never have more A lottery ticket not a single digit matched The wind can howl as lonely is the coyotes The wind can blow each dream away A prairie sky is endless The city's sky is invisable We never do what we should have done We just blame others for our faults I open a can of soup and it is magic From factory kitchens through rail and road from grocery to my pantry a mircle of modern life It is a tad too salty The televsion is on but nothing is watched It has been a whole day without human contact And I feel nothing but numbness I turn the lights off and in the darkness I can see the yellow moon through the window Big and round and bright My phone beeps I'm needed at work Maybe on the way home I'll stop and buy a lottery ticket.
