First, there were blues, which became jazz; the world loved the music and it grew fast. Jimi Hendrix created rock 'n' roll,; James Brown was the King and godfather of soul. Hip Hop was created by the Sugar Hill Gang, which expresses the stories of urban life and youthful pain. Now it's the dominant music of these times and tells what's going on in today's youthful minds. It's music that makes people think and play, like they do today.
