Young Men In the Saddle
She knew in time the tears would dry, And she would think of other things. Then she might see the reasons why That she no longer smiles and sings. "He's just a cowboy," she might say - "That's just the way they are," folks said. But, oh, she thinks about that day He held her hand and said,"Let's wed." They talked of plans for tomorrow With homes and kids and pets galore. Nothing about tears and sorrow. A sadness that chilled to the core. For came that day she saw him stare - Seeing there what she couldn't see. He kissed her lips and skin so fair, And rode somewhere he had to be. Ladies beware of young men in the saddle. They seem to be born of a most restless breed. Flowers that blossom turn their thoughts to cattle, And away from dreams of a young lady's need. 3-13-2018
