Was She Just Another Hallucination
An illusionary delusion, visions of confusion- Phantasm of mirage, or insane sabotage. I set out to walk with no one around for safety, the scenery cold where warmth was not found- I thought I was alone with no one around, just then a loud car noise and I hit the ground, What happened, what could all this ruckus be? But what do my wondering eyes appear to see- an apparition or rendition of a ghost with sympathy. A chimera of a familiar woman who gave me ease, someone I thought I knew in lifetime long ago- I felt a connection of affection; didn’t want to let go, she walked up to me with gentle eyes very slow. Just then all my fear and anxiety seemed to cease, I felt the chilling to the bone cool October breeze- I began to weep and fell upon my weakened knees. Squinting and longing to recognize such courtesy, bestowing such compassion with much concern- A link into her tender soul I started to yearn, it seemed like forever, then backward she did turn. Who was this woman showing such generosity? a heavenly angel maybe watching over humanity- Someone who saved unselfishly with magnanimity. In my soul she felt real, as if I knew of her creation- was she my dead sister…or just another hallucination. Hallucination Contest Brendan J. Simmons March 13, 2018
