Don'T Mess With My House
A child, crippled by a tragic accident Learned how to excel in sorrow Never listening to words That would encumber his bright tomorrow Who cares if he's a paralytic It has nothing to do with his mind A ray of hope pulled him forward Through the sludge of the unkind In high school, he began to set his path For college and a full life Occasionally, he would entertain thoughts Of dating, maybe even a wife ......no kids...never any kids He had no idea what a slippery slope A single thought could be But the tiny little prick, became a hole Causing the paralytic to eventually ....despair Because of his condition, the govt. gave aid Set him up in a nice accessible home A nurse would help with difficult task And with his motorized chair, he was free to roam The moments leaped into decades As he sat alone, in a house full of fears Trash and dirt accumlated Shut off and off limits to eyes that wanted to leer ...and judge One would think the nurse would care At least enough to speak But to her, he was a job She viewed him as crippled, weak He should find the will to pull the trigger But he didn't have the willpower to move What's the point in trying When you know you'll lose ...again, and again One day, a man knocked on his door He yelled for him to enter in But with the door locked and bolted And his mess, a testament to where he'd been The man kept knocking, not going away So the paralytic screamed out in pain The man at the door, gently spoke "Would you like to walk again?" Oooweee, he wanted to rage and war But he knew he MUST answer that door So, he gathered all his strength to move This time, was the ONE time, he must not LOSE One roll at a time, he finally made it to the door Unlocked it and opened it wide The light flooded in Nearly blinding his darkened eyes The man repeated, "Would you like to walk again?" The paralytic answered with a resounding, "Yes!!!" The man said, "Then get up and walk!" Immediately, all his fears began to pull and press ...against his hope Looking into his eyes of love He dare not disobey So, he left his sorrow And began to make his way ...home The neighbors talked of the miracle And the total change in the paralytic's life In the passage of time, He took to himself, a beautiful wife Six months, after their son was born His wife and child died in an accidental fire He was left in the despair and sorrow Of gained and lost desire It didn't take long til he was back in the place Where trash and fears accumulate Though his legs worked well, as they should Nothing or no one would bring him to investigate ...his thoughts Written by Trudy Schrader on 02-06-2018 Note: Everyone has a story, and most are hidden beneath a blanket of fear. What is his?
