Oh, there were tears, stories, followed by laughter and melancholy. A room full of emptiness, mementos, a roaring silence. I walk alone now, no shadow leads the way, no head turns to hasten my steps, waits impatiently. We had agreed - one more summer if he was up to it. His days grew shorter as did Summer’s. It was his time. I honored his life by allowing him a quiet death. His pain draining into me.
