Within Twilight, Chapter One

I seldom drank coffee, I seldom smoked, and I never sung. But on this one day as a young man, I stood before the twilight sharing new verse upon verse with the seabirds, the crabs and the foxes. Occasionally, I paused to take a sip of my cooling coffee or a drag of my cigarette. The sea breeze felt icy and I wasn't fully dressed for the experience. I shivered a little bit, but soon, the sun broke through the horizon and the day began to warm.

I picked up a seashell and put out my cigarette within it. I held these two items in my left hand and my empty coffee cup in my right. I turned around and started to head to the beach exit. I can tell you what would then happen, and what I would hear next would come to change my life from that day forward. I was looking down, fishing cap over my eyes and climbing the collapsing beach sand up and over the exit. From the corner of my eye, I saw a flock of pelicans heading down the beach line. I turned my head to follow them, but continued to walk towards the exit; from here, my life changed forever.

"Sir, sir, come quick", a young boy excitedly approached me.

I followed him to find that his mother was surrounded by a team of angry blue foxes.

Blue?!? Foxes aren't blue. My mind was trying to determine what was going on here as she screamed and lashed out her beach towel at them.

I calmly walked up to the gathering raised my hand and said, "Be gone". With that eight foxes circled her one last time than darted out to the dunes.

"Mama, mama, how did the man do that". The boy sunk his head into his hands and began to cry.

"Sir, my name is Lena. Thank you for helping me out of my predicament. The world seems to be turning really crazy anymore. How many I repay you?"

Without batting an eye, "You must come with me to see Grimlocke the Oracle. Blue foxes is not right in this world and he must determine where the imbalance is. Will you come?"

"Yes" said Lena. "Let me drop my son off at his grandfather's house and I will take the travel with you. When would you like to go?"

"Now" I said, "Let's go now".

And with that we went to drop off the child and make our way to Grimlocke.

"Who are you that you decide to disturbe me as I rest?!?" bellowed Grimlocke as myself and Lena stood awestruck at the towering man upon his front door step.

"There's a distrubance in the universe" I hustled as he right eyebrow rose.

I then went into a ramble about the blue foxes where he interupted me and calmly said, "Come in."

"I thought for sure they were going to eat me" said Lena, "Robert saved my life!"

Grimlocke had us take seats and then spoke, "The blue foxes are from hades itself, beasts from the underworld. This could be the begininng of them being unleased across the world. And the worst of it, is this is just the begining of other horrific things to come."

"What does it all mean?" I beckoned.

"Adventure." Grimolocke said, "It means we must go on an adventure. It's the deepest and darkests caves we must visit and find a man that dwells there, a hermit of sorts. Would you guys like to embark on this adventure with me?"

Lena spoke, "Yes". I added my own thoughts, "Indeed".

Grimlocke blew out his candle, opened the front door and together we embarked for that cave.

Lena and I never rode horseback before, but today we joined Grimlocke on three of the most beautiful horses ever. We headed east to the cave of the Insightful. Grimlocke had a map which took us alongside many roads and through small towns. We traveled with a light load, some food and drink and we move mostly with the moonlight.

"What is the name of the person we seek in the Cave of the Insightful", I asked Grimlocke.

"Good guesion, young man, but he is no much more of a person as he is an apparition, an ecoplasmic soul with answers that can heal our world and have positivie influence on it's future."

"Have you met him before?" I asked curious to know the answer.

"I have been to the Cave of the Insightful before, that's all you need to know", Grimlocke motioned to his horse to go a little faster and we did the same with our horses.

"May I sing a song of praise?" asked Lena. It was hard not to notice her beauty and the love she had for everything in the world.

Grimlocke and I nodded. Lena sang as we contintued to approach our desitnation.

We didn't see them, but there were blue foxes on our tail.
