Contest Description

What to Submit?

Greetings, fellow Croutons,

Feel free to submit a poem on any theme, including as many Christian names as you can, but not used as names- use them as verbs, adverbs etc. Also use names that sound like other words, with a bit of poetic licence.

Examples-  'Harry' can mean to harrass. 'Colin' sounds like 'Callin'   '.

Names must be genuine names from any region, please avoid using trendy ones like 'Apple', 'Rocket Zot', 'North West', etc.

Max size is thirty five lines. Extra brownie points for humour.
Any form is acceptable.

Prizes

First place will be judged using the popular vote system, not the Electoral college.

First Prize, Top dude ( you can be either Tom Cruise or Kelly McGillis)
Second Prize, Second best exotic Marigold poet (you can be Bill Nighy or Judi Dench)
Third Prize, The Third Man (or woman, so you can be Orson Welles or Allida Valli- boy, was she hot)
Lots of other places and walk-on parts.

Preparing Your Entry

Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read —   Illustrations- feel free to add pictures, I am particularly fond of engravings by Albrecht Durer, the works of Renee Magritte, J.W.M Turner, Joseph Wright of Derby and early renderings of Winnie the Pooh.

English Language

Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation. You can write in Kernow, but must include an original Cornish pasty (no brown sauce)

A Note to Poetry Contestants

You are welcome to enter this contest, whether or not you won a prize in one of my previous contests. If you can currently smell something odd, I had potato and courgette fritters for tea yesterday, with Feta. Sorry. I'll just open a window.
