PRETENSE

Should my son...,

walk with hands held high?

Head down?

Give you a smile?

When his heart,

his soul,

and even his mind,

holds a frown?

Just so that,

you don't feel threatened?

Just so that the warriors,

that he descends from,

are not beckoned?

Just so that,

the superiority that you feel,

comes before him, and not second?

Should my son...

put a shuffle in his step,

and pretend to fetch,

the meager, hand outs,

that society, wishes to throw his way?

Should he over think,

and re-think,

what he wishes to say?

Or, should he pretend,

so as not to offend?

When in truth,

it is he, who should be offended!

Because, most of society,

has pretended,

that they are color blind,

and culture sensitive!

When in truth,

what really crosses their mind,

is....

"GET YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR NIGGA!

OR, I SWEAR, I'LL PULL THIS TRIGGA"
