What are you owed in this life

Friends you may believe that you are owed something in this life; such as any
or all of the following:

The love and respect of your family and friends
Clean air, potable water and safe food
Good streets and roads
Safe consumer products
Good schools and a great education
Fine libraries and parks within our cities
Protection of the law enforcement agencies
Defense of our nation by the armed forces
The service of the many other governmental agencies

But you would be wrong for those are items that are either bestowed upon you
by your deeds and actions or are services that are bought with the taxes that
we pay.

The truth is in this life you are owed nothing; you need to earn it.
