Inspiration

She said that she is not that pretty
And she doesn't go to the gym or exercise
She said that she's a little on the chubby side
And she likes her burgers and French fries

She said why to waste my time on her
When there are supermodels look-alike all around
She said that she's not like an angel in the sky
Just a regular girl with her feet on the ground

She said that there are lots of fishes in the sea
That I should throw my hook in the water
That I could find a nice wealthy girl
Instead of wasting time on a janitor's daughter

She said that she is not glamorous
Nothing much here to please the eyes
And she doesn't use makeup
She's just natural and not hiding behind a disguise

She said, that she's a thorn in the garden
Lost in a world of beautiful things
And she sounds like Harold Melvin and the blue notes
If I should ever hear she tries to sing

She said that life has not been a Bed of Roses
She wasn't born with a golden spoon or token
She doesn't have a smartphone
And her nails are always broken

And she never thought much about love and romantic stuff
Men just tell the girl what they want to hear
And once the girl lets her guards down
After the men just disappear

She said, she's content with what life brings
And she doesn't minds being a lonely soul
She got her parents to think off
And they are getting old

She said that I look like an honest guy
And she's not the girl with a happy ending
That I should look to another girl
To talk to and start befriending

She said that she don't know if she could love
And it won't be fair to lead me on blindly
And should stop wasting my time on her
And move along quickly

So I told her, to let me say my part
I have been listening to her all the time
And not I got a few things to say
And get it off my mind

You look distant and sad
And I just wanted to get to know you
You look like you carry the world on your shoulders
And I wanted to help you carry it too

And if you give me a chance to be your friend
It would mean a lot to me
If love is meant to be it would be
But right now your friendship is good enough for me

Just getting to know you
That is all that I want to do
You are beautiful, plain and simple
Daffodils in a world of roses, red, yellow, and blue

You are such an inspiration
And many girls would learn a lot from you
In a world of fading honestly
You are not afraid to be true

You write your own story
Every day you write a new one
And you won't believe it when I tell you
To many girls, you are an inspiration
