It's So Easy

It's amazing how easy it is to fake a smile, and nobody knows. Nobody takes a second guess, they just smile back and remain at rest. If only they knew what was eating me alive, if only they understood how hard I strive, if only... I try and try again but yet, I still end up in a bottomless pit of horror, a deep, dark den. If only they knew me, who I really was, they wouldn't try to make a story for me. They'd stop all the lies, rumors, and tales, maybe they'd actually take a second look at the smile I'm wearing and what the real story behind it rather than swearing in my name and Soiling it to an unwanted fame. Just maybe somebody will take a second look, with their heart rather than their eyes...and maybe someday, that person will have the ability to gaze past this disguise.
