red tint of evening bleeds across a glazed skyline… crowds droop on bleak aisles The street lamps wane beyond rush hour; eyes missing the rarest flower… And city lights drain people’s bones, when aching shadows blur my view. How lonely the murmurs heaving around against the pitch of uptown’s restless mind; that my own breath, withdrawn, endures its sound replaying ticked moments of work’s toil ,blind lost in a haste when life cannot unwind. ----------------- ~One modern Haiku,A couplet,Free verse and English Quintain~ Silent One's A Poet's Dozen Contest 11/5/2015

Trees of the Lord

The trees of the Lord
Full of sap and evergreen
Planted by waters,

Spreading out their roots
Even when drought comes with heat,
Still, will yield their fruit.

You want to set goal
Big enough that in the process of achieving it
You become someone worth becoming

Spirits riding time, in swirling clouds, mist and fog, off the bluff they rolled.
Special thanks to James Marshall Goff for taking the time to explain haiku to me in a manner that helped me to appreciate its imagery and rigid format. "Visitors" is a spin-off from another poem "Heritage", which I wrote a few years ago and posted on PS only a few minutes ago. If the imagery and emotions I attempted to evoke fell short of your expectations, read "Heritage" and you'll tell more about what I was attempting to communicate. This is my first attempt at haiku, so do be too mean. ;-) ~<><

My Mom's A Maid

                           She cares for the job
Though the masters scream and shout
                           For the sake of love

Lookin' after pests
Keepin' a CLOSE eye on 'em
"Those wild animals!"

Roamin' around zoo
Searchin' for sneaky monkey
Hidin' in a tree

Zookeeper gets mad
"Where's Marty, the smartypants!?"
"He TOOK my cage keys!"
