hindered thoughts of childhood
often elude my mind
memories come in fragments now
escaping through corners of eyes
sometimes i see you in dreams
waiting for you to reach out
emotionless i speak
eager for one last touch
till you fade again
home is but a memory
of a father's love and devotion
mother's lullabies fading in time
eternally gone from all but mind

Once God was in crafting mood,
He had to gift something precious to the world.
And the Imagination Bee had gone far to play.
The God was blank.
So he took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need.
Then the God combined these qualities.
And there was nothing more to add.
He looked at it,
And knew His masterpiece was complete.
He called it ... Dad,
And sent it on Earth.

Dearest held me when I was just a babe, with hands so big and worn.
Always taking responsibility from the day that I was born.
Difficult was the work to give us food and a roof above our heads.
Daddy gave us coats and shoes and toys and a nice warm comfy bed ...
You gave us one thing that was the most, each day without complaint.
Serving your love and understanding on a never ending plate.
Girls think their dads are the best, but I for sure can say,
I know you are the best. Number one in my heart you will stay.
Rendering always the dearest to me; even when we are apart.
Love you dad for being you and giving me a start.

I did not want to say goodbye,
To you my friend, my special guy,
You always made me get things done,
At the same time we had fun.
Missing you, I feel such pain,
The way you left was such a shame,
You left so quick, I don’t know why,
I just know it made me cry.
I always tried to do my best,
Although sometimes I was a pest,
You taught me manners and virtue,
I became a soldier because of you.
You made me what I am today,
I love you man in every way,
I know that I was sometimes bad,
I miss you big guy, you’re my Dad.

Home sweet home
Hello. Please allow me to introduce you to my humble abode
Off the beaten path, down a paved road, and across a dirt roadway
Mother was the undisputed family superstar, loving all 12 of us equally
Enemies number one and two to this lowly community were ignorance and poverty
Sunny muggy days were plenty, and they often took a portion of sweetness right off our table
Whether we had good times or bad, sad or glad, there was no defeat to this great family
Every day the sun came up in the East and set in the Western sky, we were thankful
Earnings brought meager gains; labor produced pains; but the determination remained
Teachers felt obligated to destroy ignorance, and were devoted to reading, writing, and arithmetic
Happiness wasn’t something I craved for, from somewhere out there; it was at home within me
On those rainy days of Summer which seldom came, we played ball, Jump Rope, and Hide &Seek
Mary, mama’s friend, had the first television in our community; we watched Tarzan and Superman
Every Monday night when we were little, daddy took us to town where we watched the big screen

There is a man,
his name is Shane.
he is my father.
and for that i am eternally grateful.
he gave me life
he wasn't always there
in the beginning of my life.
but now i am here living with him
and i couldn't be happier.
he gives me strength
and keeps me safe.
there is a man his name is Shane
and i am proud to call him dad.
" This poem is dedicated to my dad the best dad ever. I love him very much. I love you dad "
