Un Confit Pour Toi--A Sweet For You

Aimeriez vous une chevaline rouge Composée de sucre d’orge? (would you like a red horse made of barley sugar?) Vous pourriez faire la race de Plaines aux tires d’eponge. (you could race across sponge toffee plains) Vous amènera à un bosquet d’arbres Faites de réglisses à la menthe Ou des bariolé jujubes croissent au lieu de feuilles. (would bring you to a grove of trees Made of mint liquorices Where multicolour jujubes grow instead of leaves). For Debbie Guzzi's biLingual Poetry Contest you wished for me to write something sweet, Debs:))

I am in a hurry and I forgot to say how good were your cookies you prepared in my special bowl. I did not expect to find such goods, so I entered your room to steal something, like any Tom Cat. Now, I am looking in your eyes. I have green eyes and I murmure a swing-ssong from Cats Aristocrats: How good, how good it is to be a cat!

I have just tasted the confit, even it is not for moi. I am the Tom Cat who could not temper himself. I tasted your poems, I bite a little a bit from each and my nose is still with whipcream. I tell you a secret: each bite is immortal. No, I must run , descending the big tree with many flowers that caress your window. I came from nowhere and I was sure you did not know who was I, my dear muse. I am just a feeling.

Hello Mikki, What a neat poem here for sure with the bilingual rendition of French and English!! Great Work and very interesting. "Jujubes" -- huh?? So perfect and appropriate (LOL)!! Being someone, like yourself, who navigates in languages other than English, I always find it refreshing to use snippets of other languages in some of my writings too. I think this helps to make all of us better writers when we push the foreign language envelop at times when each of us writes. SEVEN!! Best, Gary

well, I am seeing this one won in the contest. It's a good thing. You sure put a lot of work into it!! Yes, I would love a cat, but until I can fix the odor the other one left in our carpet, I am afraid to get a new cat that might be affected to continue that nasty habit left by my Lilah cat!!
