That Sad Day

 
stay with me for the summer sweet kitty
with bones so fragile and weak
trembling beneath my hand

I still remember
that little ball of brown fluff
you fit in my hand
it has been sixteen sweet years
and now the end is near

I am just waiting
for you to tell me its time _
I dread that sad day

When Callie cat got cancer a number of years ago, I remember having these thoughts you are having and she held out a long time but then things were getting bad and I had to do what we had to do. I know you can remember all those good years you have had with her(him), and those memories will last your whole lifetime! It's awesome that you have had 16 years with this kitty, such a fantastic poem my friend! I just love it when people combine forms, a trick that I learned a long time ago, but is quite a good one!
