Santas Little Helpers-Part2
'Shakily, I ran to my deer whose hip was now broken,
and sat down beside it without a single word spoken!'
I gave comfort, while staring into the pain-filled brown eyes,
knowing there'd be no more flying tonight through the skies!'
'When what should come ambling through the wind and the fog,
but three mishapen forms, about the size of large dogs!'
'The leader called 'Sapphire', growled,'Santa may we help you out?'
For God told us to stay ready, so we've been hanging about!'
'He told us that you would need us someday,
so, each year, we watched as you flew by our way,
wondering if that would be the very special night,
well-here you are, everything's going to be alright!'
'With wings of an eagle, he was a formidable male,
and I couldn't stop staring at his serpent-like tail!'
His sister 'Champagne', looked much more like a great bird,
with wings, head and beak, but a dragon's tail-most absurd!'
'Last came brother 'Velvet', with massive gold wings,
a deep red torso and he moved if on springs!
The deer were all helped to get up into the sleigh,
then they hitched themselves up, saying, 'Let's be on our way!'
'Up into the air they flew, without even a care,
and we delivered the presents with some time to spare!'
'December 26th, I said goodbye to three new friends indeed,
who promised they'd wait until once more there was need!'
'So to you, my dear friends, I just want to say,
watch for Santa flying with his toy-laden sleigh,
and see if it is pulled by three Gargoyles from city to city,
if you see only Reindeer- ALAS- more's the pity!'
