My Declaration of War on Self-Imposed Stupidity...WHO'S COMING WITH ME?!

All this hyped up glam and glitz
giggly girls break down in fits
these mascara clad boys devoid of wits
The shallower they go, the deeper it gets
Sillouettes lacking inner angles and lines...
The substance goes absent when the light shines...
Plotless drama without direction, still winds
These tragically bad fads spread like vines

Overrun with Reality shows depicting what's REAL
A mass zombie audience digesting their meal
Not In, but outside, this box they soften like veal
Staring at a screen that numbs how they feel

When did the war on intelligence start?
Losers not knowing that losing's not smart...
Cable providers gladly doing their part
News channels selling half-truth ala carte

I will be a rebel and fight for your mind
Hiding remote-controls where they won't find
Trading entertainment for knowledge in kind
Giving books out to the voluntarily blind

It's gonna be a BATTLE!!! WHO'S COMING WITH ME??!!

Steve, I'm ready to enlist! Great thoughts about "giving books out to the voluntarily blind." I don't blame the news, however. I just think we need to all dig deep for the FULL truth, and that requires more work than some people are ready to take on. Outstanding! Carolyn

oh Steve, I really like this one. I fought reality shows a long time but somehow they are still there vacuuming what is left of our minds. My eyes have betrayed me and I can no longer read as voraciously as before and sometimes find myself staring at stupidity out of boredom. No more! I'm with you. Thanks for reading my poem. Love, Joyce

I'm coming with you, Steve! This is going to be the most bloody war ever. Sadly, in America, the enemy is inumerable. Spread by the Media, supported by politicians, and enjoyed by many overseas, It's sad, terribly sad. Ruben.

Count me in....!!!! Have we become a nation of DUMB AND DUMBER? Where does it end?...and holy heck..the influence on our youth, making mush out of their thinking is pretty frightening. We need multiple soapboxes to stand on for this one!! ~ Carrie

AAAAA!!! I am soooo putting this in my faves. Have I told you that you are totally brilliant? Yep, you are!!!! Amazing write, my friend. Soooo much truth here and it echoes so many of the thoughts I have had my self. Yep, awesome! again, in my FAVES!!!!!!! LOL Stupidity and ignorance is so irritating and those that embrace it with open arms are even more annoying. I vote we hide ALL remotes and make them all read a book. That is if they know how to read. LOL LOVE and hugs from KY, Christie

I AM I AM! YES! Love the line about the voluntarily blind. Sheehs our country is like a lamb being led to the slaughter. Dumbed down and happy about it. Where is original thought, thinking outside the box and being able to defend what you believe with your own words. Where is the gift of learning because you have an interest and not because it will be on the test. Where is quiet reflective time without being hooked up to an Ipod, cell phone, computer or TV, okay stopping now lol, you hit a nerve

Steve I'm in bro most of the stuff on T.V. is just a little to shallow for my taste - i do like History, science, sports etc but the rest of it they can just keep - God Bless, MJ

Locked and loaded Steve. I'll take out the head advertisers at the major networks. My biggest beef with the idiot box is by far the commercials. I have to mute them when paranormal state is on a&e. Why do i want to drink a Pepsi all of a sudden?
