May I Ask Your Name, Please

An old face looks into a mirror, the confusion floats over her, struggling with her memory. Who are you she wonders? I am a young girl, just seventeen, this summer! See my, dress! It is pink and frilly and pretty, mother made it for my party! She smiles at the reflection, but it fades and withers, leaving an old face. Oh hello dear! May I ask, your name, please? ________________________________ October 17, 2013 Poetry/Nonet x2/May I Ask Your Name, Please Copyright Protected, ID 10-513-114-17 All Rights Reserved, 2013, Constance La France

Forgetfulness with old age, but a child remains within. Funny and powerful. Love it!

An excellent write from the perspective of the person with dementia! My grandfather regressed to a young man at the end of his life. Seeing himself in a mirror would upset him terribly. Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest...Love and blessings, Rhonda
