If It Tastes Good, Spit It Out

If It Tastes Good, Spit It Out By Elton Camp Some diets for weight control Fat-free, sugar-free do extol Those who wouldn’t be fat May have to eat a lot of that Bran cereal that tastes like hay And there’s even more to say A muffin that is fat-free Tastes very bad to me With a salad I’m not thrilled With E. coli, it may be filled From now on, you must lack A luscious, juicy Big Mac French fries you eat no more Their fat and sodium to abhor Never think you can try A slice of chocolate pie Also quite hard to take No more red velvet cake The diet rule to recall If good, don’t eat at all

Hey Wayne, thanks for reading and for your kind comment. I am just an old man pursuring a hobby. I never wrote a single poem until I was in my seventies. The old dog managed to learn a few tricks, maybe. My favorites are the light humor type, although I've written a few more serious. None of them are intended as "great literature," but to entertain and to be different what what is so often found on these online writing sites. Elton

Me either! Thanks for reading. This harmless little poem really ticked off some woman on Poetry Soup and she left the only mean, hate-filled comment I've ever received on this site. I checked and found she has done others similarly. So I banned and blocked her from any more comments. That's a great feature as it removed even her current tirade. Elton
