Eternity, Infinity
I send this message into eternity, infinity
for it is said loudly that the end of the world is here
I am not afraid of death, extinction, eternal night
as once, I was at the gates of Heaven
but they did not open, unfurl for me
it was not my time, I guess . . .
I heard my loved and departed ones calling
calling out my name, beckoning, summoning me
but I awoke from this dream, vision, moonlight wish
confused and breathing and still within life . . .
My journey has been chapters of a book
some pages so beautiful, full of happiness and delight
some of anguish, grief, deep sadness and sorrow
but each one unique, each one a story to be told
from that lonely little girl to the woman, I am
I have been . . .
O, I will miss the sunrises and sunsets
walks in forests lush, rippling waters
and lovely birds singing in the tangled trees
the kiss of snowflakes on my face in winter
crunching leaves beneath my feet
all these things . . .
All my memories will be gone
all the pictures in my mind never to be viewed
and the mightiest buildings will fall
walls will crumble into decay
the streets empty of humanity, cars rusty shells
and our existence will be erased
or will Earth just disappear . . .
I do not regret a moment
for even the saddest experience is part of living
and once you have glimpsed Heaven
your life is never quite the same
and you do not fear it's end
for there is a great peacefulness
waiting beyond the gate . . .
I send this message into eternity, infinity
for it is said loudly that the end of the world is here
