Conflict - Tomboy or Girl

The bark worn smooth,
a scamper up.
Looking down takes my breath away.
Leveling off, I’m safe in the cockpit.

Flying the Iowa skies, way above the tassels,
Control panel at my fingertips.
Spreading my wings and charging the clouds.
Birds skimming by.

The branch cradling my adventure
is broad,
back firmly against the trunk,
sun over my shoulder.

Apple blossom shadows on my arm.
Between petals and freckles,
bright spot lights of sun
sparkle on my skin.

The petals are so pretty.
I pick a bouquet,
shinny down the tree, and
bring apple blossoms home to my mother.

Congrats on the feature. I had a friend growing up that could climb trees, play baseball and hold her own with the rest of us. She raised a family and her husband knows he was blessed. When I coached my first year I had a second base all star that later on had five children. She was as good a MOM as she was at second base, an all star. Vince

Why haven't I seen this? This is a great poem! "Flying the Iowa skies, way above the tassels..." not too much of a struggle between the tomboy and the girl...the tomboy has more fun! ::grin:: I like this Mom! ~Tru
