And my sighs fill empty hallways, as the nights turn to days, in an endless flicker. Not even lightning nor thunder can move me from this silence. And winter is coming, as the leaves fall all over my hair, the trees shedding them like tears. Crinkling under my toes. Their joyful colors of orange and red. And some have had the life sucked from them back into the earth. I enjoy this solitary moment, before they are swept away by the wind and I hope that their beauty will stay. In my mind, to brighten the day like moments like this, filled with our laughter. I bundle up with scarves and sweaters, to fight the temperature. And stars look brilliant at night, and my hand in yours under moonlight. Our knowing glances say it all. There is a certain beauty when winter meets the fall.
