For a Moment
For a moment, I slipped back in time and there you were with that silly smile on your face as if you had done something suspiciously naughty and had been caught in the act. I failed at first, to see the smile also carried tears of years passed when things seemed easier than now. Coming softly into the room, our eyes held each other and the tears glistened on your cheek in the shaded evening sunset as it brightened the room after a day of what seemed unending icy cold wind and rain. I recalled how winter caused you to be sadder than most any other time of year. The holidays and all its festivities over in a time that waned between warm and cold as snow and rain mixed up the seasons and kept you warm and safe but sad indoors. allowing you to weep openly when alone. How many decades ago had we met and it was that same teary smile that drew me in? If I look at your picture now, it's there that feeling of love that rose more easily than the sun and is a forever memory that lives in my heart that misses you for more than a moment
