Lost In the Shadows
I was born to two angels and raised to be a man with morals. Ones instilled since my birth, but being bred to this Earth is hard to separate as blessing from curse. I see the beauty in shadows and the ugliness in the scintillating lights. The aspects of color, the depths that go beyond black and white. My deepest dreams sprout like spring flowers. But being in this cold world, they tend to die from the lack of warmth. I've been blessed with some that have that effervescent warm touch, but the chills are more abundant, so the warmth doesn't seem like much. It's hard to maintain sunny skies when they become clouded by thunderstorms and rain. The pain is like a poison injected deep in my veins. And once it floods into my bloodstream, it's sustained and doesn't change. Well those rivers run deep and morality has been buried down six feet. My innocence has withered, and a lust for sin has hindered. Morals, values, and civility, all of the good that I have surrendered. A sun among constellations is what I once was. The glowing light beyond the hills, the divine melody sung by doves. The speck of light in my loved one's eyes. I recognize that I'm not so different from the angels that fell from the skies. I look into the eyes of the man that I've evolved into. Increasing distance from morality, and moving towards all of the sins that I could not subdue. I walk into the dark shadows to a man that silently screams of glory. And from the one that I once was, ending the chapters and closing the final pages to his story. 12/13/2015
