Loneliness, the Great War
I sometimes think deep thoughts, and wonder where my wild spirit will have some rest, Could it be in a sunny corner facing the west, with golden clouds high up in the sky, In a quiet place just the near a silent sound of a creeping mist or a wandering breath, Beneath an ancient tree, with birds thrilling notes, melting away so I can be lonely. Maybe among a thousand gathered flowers will my wild disturbed spirit rest in peace, Sleep for the moment and wake in an ethereal world floating down from the bluest sky, If I wake at night I will sit under the cover of eternal stars in a vast unbounded space, And stare upwards, beyond all of the different worlds and think thoughts of my wretchedness. Now when everything is quiet and still, battles have ended and the fighters have gone, The loud noise and the mingling screams, the thundering cannons rest, they have stopped, But the sounds of the disaster still ring aloud in my head, but there is real peace outside, The cloudless sky is free of smoke, the flames have stopped and blood seeps deep into soil. My mind is remembering all of the spirits of the slain, time leaves a red rose on my soul, The ground is leveled and my bold adventures have taken a rapid flight, to places afar, Back to my home, and my dear friends and family over the sea, away from a buried world, Returning to a normal life is impossible so I will just live my life very quietly with my loneliness.
