Battlefield
His eyes smolder like the coals of a dying fire, the bite of chicken wire deep into the skin upon my throat. Hands dig into latex, nails attempting to shred the material. Laughter, oh so much laughter as all the pain clouds any fear. Fires flame high like a lost soul reaching towards the sky. But we are not alone. Villagers circle us almost embracing, yet in the end I know they would not allow my escape, not from him. His eyes smolder like the coals of a dying fire, his firm beautiful lips twist towards a taunting self assured smirk. He is speaking yet I can no longer understand the words, vision begins to tunnel as my hands find their way into his hair. Laughter, oh so much laughter as the smoke becomes our veil. Kicking back my head, skull meets nose. Muffled curse and a kick to the ribs. His eyes smolder like the coals of a dying fire, as he stares up at myself, Dimly I realize, they would not allow my escape, not from him. Hands reach for steel, dagger towards the smooth column of his neck. Press, press my love, staring at the blood that drips. Never safe, never still, always at this knife point. I am suddenly captivated by the blood that drips and the arch of his brow, the way his lips quirk before he realizes he needs to hide his smirk. His eyes smolder like the coals of a dying fire, as in one moment he regains control. Slamming a fist into my hair, lips are drug flesh to flesh, and as that dagger cuts blood, and he holds me so very near, The laughter, oh all of that laughter, is somewhere very far from here. This smoke has become our veil where two enemies had met, yet from the ashes and blood that wept, finally giving in to the "rightness", they walked through the fire, Chicken wire and steel, hand in hand, step by step. We could never allow escape, not from each other.
