O' Mercy
I found a heart; lying in the street- without a thing to eat, O' mercy. Beat becoming faint; my heart locked up in chains- and nothing I can change, O' mercy. Let me feel alive again just so I can help, just so I can take the pain and lock it up again. Let me breathe as I've never breathed before, so I may pass my breath to lonely hearts once more. Let me have a penny with which to buy some bread, O' mercy. Let me help. I see another heart beating faintly to the left; it's tiny cries leave me feeling so upset. I see more hearts appearing to the left and to the right, O' mercy, what use is having sight? I should have been a hero, someone dependable and brave, instead I stand here witness, all alone and so afraid. My heart is beating rapidly, my tears stream down my face, my heart is growing colder, too much pain, once again. O' mercy where's my courage? O' mercy where's my strength? More importantly why can't I find the money just to buy some bread? Money, O' the money, O' mercy why the money? Why do we have to let this paper rule our lives? Driving poor tiny hearts into the streets- with tears in their eyes? Why does money have to be proof that we're alive? The thing that drives all wars and madness filling people's eyes. Why can't I be of help? O' mercy, why can't I be of help? Why can't I take their tears away myself? O' mercy... Why can't I?
