You and I
We were the forgotten ones, you and I, floundering through life, unable to fly, directionless winds carried us away, never knowing if we were here to stay. We were the sensitive ones, you and I, persecuted when movies made us cry, each childhood wound has left its jagged scar, we have carried these burdens much too far. We were the gifted artists, you and I, made breathless by the beauty of the sky, trying to convey this beauty in art, not knowing we were missing half our heart. We were the true peace-makers, you and I, we'd give and give until the day we died, we dreamt our dreams no matter how wistful, our love for our kids: unconditional. How we loved our children, you and I, from infants, to toddlers, through junior high, grown now, we can only dream and recall, caressing their skin when they were so small. Hand in hand we're together, you and I, finally, as one, we can truly fly, we pray that we can grow old together, twin souls now reunited forever. --for my beloved husband, my twin soul, how I love him... ©Danielle White
