Me, God and Hot Tamales
You ever had a day off from work where God placed it upon your heart to go walking with Him? Well, I did just that today. I started my walk in this beautiful subdivision. After walking for a while, the beautiful homes were gone and it was just the isolated road and trees. I walked along the road to the land of Never, not once concerned with how far I had walked or how long I will walk. Since there was no sidewalk anymore, the gift to enjoy and walk a balanced life was intriguing to me. So I began balancing my walk on the curb. Walking by faith, walking in peace, walking towards my destiny. Is there more to this road? There has to be, for I wasn’t finished my walk with Thee. Then the road had come to an end, nothing left but a gated fence and a fire station. Nothing to do but to make a U-turn, so you turn. I decided to sit on the curb, just me and God, looking up to the sky eating Hot Tamales, the cinnamon chewy candies. After a while, I got up and continue to walk back, back to reality, back to life, people, cars, movement. I looked ahead and realized, I wasn’t ready to walk back. I wasn’t ready to go back to reality just yet. So, I turned around and went back down the isolated road to peace. I walked back a distance and then sat on the curb again. Yes, I sat and enjoyed silence and Son shine. Thank You Father for taking me to a place where time with You stood still. A place where You and I could eat Hot Tamales and chill. I was delighted by the breeze blowing ever so gently. Then, I decided to lay in the street alongside the curb. Crazy? Not so, I found a resting place, so I rested. A little over 5 minutes I guess, closed my eyes, I did rest. Finally, I was ready to begin walking back to reality. I still was on the isolated road, so I started to walk in the middle of the street. Yes, on the white lines, because I owned it and because my Father said I could. He said, “Walk like a Boss.” And so I did, back straight, head straight, walking straight, proud with dignity, confidence and grace as I walked into new beginnings with a smile upon my face. I walked with my hands raised, giving praise, enjoying days, days like this people tend to miss. People spend their off day paying bills, cutting grass, going to the hairdresser, running errands, doing household chores, as for me, I thank God for the simple pleasures of life, like taking a walk, just me, God and Hot Tamales. What an exciting way for me to enjoy my off day! What will you do on your next day off?
