Plages Roses by Amedee-Julien Marcel-Clement

am I a cloud reflected on water
  evaporated before I exist
held in a two dimensional plane
   in-between but
 not anywhere
      shadows scream at my absence
no matter how hard I chase
             I can't catch up
      never feel I fully arrive

sometimes
    I take the deepest breath
  think ~
"this time I'll grasp hold somehow"
if only the darkness didn't swallow me up

the breeze delights in whispering I'm nothing
       moved along as if insignificant
   dropped without warning
to shatter into pieces
      and on it goes
til the end of time

      stop me here
   all is never lost
     cycles are constantly moving
ever present
     I transpire
soak
   disappear
 reappear
   retain hope

I can't hold on
but I exist still in flux
to be present in a moment
            or absent in one

I take form if I soak you through to your skin
through you ~ the embodiment I yearn for

    don't send me away
  to become a visceral haunting
    a spectral presence
clinging shamefully to feel your warmth
     brushed off
to fall to the floor

I know it's temporary
       I just can't help
    but feel every death
