We write poetry : Part Two

We write poetry (2)

I love what you stand for,
That’s why I gave you a ring.
Then after the phone call,
And a couple of years,
I gave you a ring again,
As you wiped away the tears.

And the two of us wed,
And slept together in our bed,
In our wonderful home.
We are no longer alone.
We are the lucky ones,
And everybody knows.

They wish they had what we have,
They’ve been telling us for forever.
And as long as only I have you,
They can all couple together,
But their love won’t compare,
To the love that we share,
And the feelings we will always have for each other.

Because our love is the truth,
Written out by us two.
We’ve been writing so long,
That the candles almost gone out,
But while we’re still awake,
I can stare into your eyes,
For there’s fire in your soul,
That’s why I love that you are mine.
For the fire that burns and feeds my love,
Is the same fire that burns inside you too.
That’s why you and I, with each other, are so good.

We talk the same poetic language.
We share hearts once so damaged,
They can only be fixed by the truest of artists.
And artists we are,
We have no need for just selfies.
I would paint your portrait,
Not to make me more wealthy,
But just to make you sit there,
And stare at the man who loves you,
As I lie I’ve only got a little more to do.

The painting was finished a long time ago.
I could paint you from memory,
I just didn’t want you to go.
So I asked you to pose,
In the most comfortable of places.
I never say smile,
It just appears on our faces.
So I ask you ‘Darling’,
Can we please be serious?
This is a very important picture.
One day you will see what it means to us.

Remember back in the day,
When I said Your photo’s steal my soul.
Well I give it to you willingly.
It was black then, now it’s gold.
You gave me a better soul.
You improved on the old.
You never feel cold to the touch,
To this man who runs hot enough for the two of us.

I burn at a thousand degrees, to keep you warm,
For my body is on fire, whenever you are in my arms.
And I hold you tightly and say please never leave...

And you whisper to me gently...
There is no other place I would rather be...
