Wake Up

You say you love me, say you love me, just need to change the way I am. You say you love me, say you love me, but my behaving makes you mad. Each time I wake up, put on no make-up, you see the real me and you hate what you can see. “What’s the matter, why’s your hair so wavy? Maybe wear a dress and look like a lady. What’s the matter why are you acting crazy? You make no effort, are you trying to shame me?” You say I’m wrong, say I’m wrong, that I mishear everything you say. You say I’m wrong, say I’m wrong, always taking things the wrong way. Each time I speak up, try to stand up, my voice cannot be heard and you ignore my every word. “What’s the matter, who said that you were right? Stop saying what you know, you are making us fight What’s the matter, why are you answering me back? No-one wants to hear, you’re just talking pap.” Today I found the strength to talk about what’s wrong. Today I found someone who listened to my song. Made me realise, made me wake up, should’ve known it all along And now I feel so strong. You say you love me, say you love me, but I’ve heard it all before. You say you love me, say you love me, but your lies are rotten to the core Each time I wake, hear what you’ve made up, I see the real you and I hate what I can see. It’s my Epiphany.
