I want our love to be blessed
I want God to look down and smile
Knowing all the while
That he has blessed us
Want the world to look at us and see
That this is the way love
Was meant to be
Shared
From one to the other
From lover to lover
Don't want our love to be forbidden
Don't want our love to be exiled
I want us to love and smile
All the while
Knowing deep within
That the only thing
Dark and black about our love
Is our skin
So I want us to love right
The only way God would want us to
And with all due
Respect
I expect
You to
Want to do the same thing too
So that our love will be blessed
