Twinkle Eye

TWINKLING EYE

With a twinkle in his eye
he nodded towards the bed.
'not tonight dear' I replied,
'I have an aching head.'

Then I kept him very busy
with chores to bring delay
hoping he'd be so tired
he'd sleep the night away.

But he took a hot shower
let cold water pass him by,
then emerged invigorated
with a twinkle in his eye.

I really had an aching head
on Panadol I had to rely
once the headache disappeared
mine was the twinkling eye.

Dressed in a silky negligee
I waited for him to reply
but he was snoring loudly
the twinkle had left his eye.

Pleased you found it entertaining. I'm new to poetrysoup and didn't understand what you meant by posting it so late. I have lots of poems and just pick ones at random. I also have 2 books of poetry printed. 'Bunches of blessings' and Chocolates and chuckles'. Blessings, Vivien
