Tempestuous
Boiling blackness rolls over the hillside
Trees bowing to the rampaging weight
Lightning, dances at right angles in sweeping stride
The rain stinging like pins and needles irritates
Lighting flashes again temporarily, blinding the eyes
Looking through your rain drenched eyelids,
hail bounces like a broken pearl necklace from the skies
A quick shivering wind, then stand we in awe like kids
A swirling funnel of darkness begins its descent
Stunned momentarily, by the eerie calmness,
then running for cover, from the winding serpent
Grabbing something’s and not others, all a bit ominous,
like a living beast devouring, what it chooses at will
I close my eyes and pray but my heart will not be still
