It was in the heart of frigid winter, that my car had broken down, I was frustrated and so cold, so like the snowflakes falling down. I had called for a mechanic, but I had been waiting for some time, Like fireflies wait for a silver moon, when evening's in its prime. It was turning out an awful Saturday, and I just ached to go home, So I could warm up and have my lunch, like bees to the honeycomb! I had been off to visit a friend, but that plan had gotten delayed, As afternoon wiles the moments away, to sunset skies of marmalade! After what seemed to be ages, a mechanic's tow truck finally came, Leisurely as beauteous dawn colors, that spread sun's rising fame. By this time my discomfort was keen, and I was much out of sorts- Both hands and feet were numb, in the brutal winter of no remorse. When I finally reached my home, it was truly not a bit too soon, As the end of budding vivid May, begins enticing fragrance June! On Sunday my boss called, saying I needed to attend a conference, Because my coworker had gotten sick, and had not recovered since. Imagine if you can my delight, to find out I'd be going to Aruba, To attend the scheduled meeting, while Lady Luck danced the hula! A great many things in vibrancy of life, arise from mere chance, Like the love you never hoped to see, starting a fine new romance. But instead of overthinking things, I gaily commenced my packing, Eager to be on a dawn flight, like a hummingbird's wings flapping. At last I ascended to bleak skies, happy to leave the cold behind, Promise followed as a scent of bloom, tends to linger on the mind. On my arrival canary sun was shining, and it was warm and pleasant; And it was such a welcome relief, as when beloved ones are present. The conference lasted four days, and after each session I had a ball, Enjoying the sun, beaches and cuisine, and cruel winter's downfall! Like the fall of a fiery shooting star, going nowhere in outer space, A diamond of the perpetual night, expiring in full beauty and grace. The last day of conference was done, and I was going home next day, And I sat alone in mellow sunshine, fervently wishing I could stay. And the butterscotch sun lulled me, into the sweetest of sweet dreams, Like being lost in a cool parlor, with endless flavors of ice cream. As I dreamt upon the patio chaise, I could hear the voice of summer, Telling of a fiery fervent nature, as his voice penetrated my slumber! He said flamboyant colors and excess, were the hallmarks of his style, As one with very little time, ensures each golden moment's worthwhile. He said he reveled in the joys, of bringing all earth out of doors, For festivals, parks and hiking, and fun times at breezy seashores. He told of his favorite color, which was a deep, rich burnished gold, Due to lifetimes spent in dazzling yellows, from the glory days of old! Then he said his favorite sounds, were chirpy crickets and birdsong, At first sight of moon or of sun, when the darkly shadows have gone. He went on to tell me of his fondest dream, this dream within a dream, To somehow achieve endless summer, as infinite shades of flowers teem! I awoke relaxed and refreshed, and the lustrous sunlight hurt my eyes, The way that one can come to feel, when they are by beauty hypnotized!
