STEP INTO THE FLAME

songer.co/song/iqqao6a02wkrk4h3a0mh4w3d [Verse 1] I came from silence, came from smoke From roads that never stayed the same From days that faded into dust And nights I didn’t bother to name I wasn’t reaching for a sign Wasn’t hoping much at all But something brushed across my soul And made me pause, made me fall [Pre-Chorus] It wasn’t loud, it wasn’t clear Just something burning somewhere near [Chorus] I took one step into the flame It didn’t ask, it didn’t claim But it tasted like unspeakable And I followed just the same No map, no reason I could name— Just a pull I couldn’t shake Since I took that step… Into the flame [Verse 2] It didn’t shine the way I’d thought My eyes were useless in its glow But deep inside, where words don’t work I knew it saw what I won’t show [Pre-Chorus] I should’ve turned, I almost ran But something held me where I stand [Chorus] I took one step into the flame It didn’t ask, it didn’t claim But it tasted like unspeakable And I followed just the same No map, no reason I could name— Just a pull I couldn’t fake Since I took that step… Into the flame [Bridge] It doesn’t need the things I’ve done Just the part I’ve always run from It gave no promise, gave no name But now I’ll never be the same [Final Chorus] I took one step into the flame And nothing ever felt as real It tasted like unspeakable Like something only love can steal It haunts me now, but I’m not afraid— That quiet pull I can’t explain And I’ll follow still… Into the flame [Outro] One step into the flame… One step into the flame… One step… and I became. NOTE:The journey to inner peace begins with one glorious step

Great song, I’m surprised it hasn’t garnered more attention. Your words shine.

Richard, I tried to send you a soup mail and just now realize you never got it because I failed to put in a subject. I see I have done that for several others of mt email. I wanted you to know how much a praise from you means as I greatly respect your skills with the pen. I wrote a song (thru a metaphor) to describe what it feels like to return after being gone for so many years. Its called "Old Friend In Town" If you get a chance I'd love for you to read it and share your prospective.. have you felt the change, or is it just me returning to a familiar place and yet still feel like a stranger.
