Scents of Sweet Honeysuckle

Scents of sweet honeysuckle swell up through the lush Over-grown path to the old cemetery at Spy Rock Hill, there, Fresh-cut flowers have decayed like piles of dead tree brush. Scents of sweet honeysuckle swell up through the lush As children, we played around the grand old tombs lying flush With each other, engraved flat stones, on Memorial Day where Scents of sweet honeysuckle swell up through the lush Over-grown path to the old cemetery at Spy Rock Hill there. It only got an "honorable mention." Oh, well, I tried and that's what's most important. I thought it was a winner, too. Thanks for your thoughtful encouragement.

I love the journey this took me on Milton. I have visited graveyards in Ireland and marveled at the dates and ages from long ago and wondered too about the people who now reside there. I really enjoyed your poem. Congratulations on your win. Have a wonderful week. Blessings xxoo

Congratulations LM on your win. There was a GAR cemetery in the middle of a field behind our street. As children we would explore the graves and wonder about the people buried there. Believe it or not, this was a deeply spiritual place of honor for the neighborhood children.
