In 2006, I stood outside Notre Dame, with a crêpe in my hand. So excited to be in the Paris of my dreams since taking 3 years of french in high school.  I have been to a couple of American basilicas, even the oldest one in America. This monoku describes my emotion at seeing the inside of this quintessential cathedral.

I only had an overnight stay in Paris, but through your wonderful description leading to a sensitive, emotional and apt monoku - I feel I have been and seen this historical cathedral, Notre Dame. How tragic this fire ever had to happen! Poetry hugs, Jennifer.

Not being a Christian, I always found the rear view more remarkable, but am absolutely dumbfounded as to why the fireboats in the Seine did not immediately respond to extinguish the fire. Aloha! Rico

Nice tribute Kim, it must have been awesome to see. Thankfully a lot of the statues etc were moved prior to the renovations and experts are hopeful that it can and will be rebuilt. Tom
