Blackened Leaf. One photo of so many! I couldn't add others with it somehow.
I have lived with nature and nature has lived with me my whole life.
It brings me my inspiration for everything that I create.
I walk and observe beautiful things every day.
There has always been so much surrounding me to see.
Wildlife, sunrises, sunsets, flowers, rivers and songs to hear.
Now, the toxins have hit my area and stolen these things.
Like a thief in the night, as the world changes all around.
First, I lost the wildlife, then I got sick from toxins in the snow.
My dog was sick immediately too, from putting her nose in it.
Then after the snow and ice melted, more damage was seen.
Black leaves, black acorns, black pinecones, gray water, black soil.
Even the buds to the Iris flowers are black.
My tracking of everything kept on going as I gathered some things.
I am supposed to be meeting someone soon regarding testing.
Sadly, the local EPA and Governor never called back in February.
It has only continued to get worse with things that are discovered.
These are things I have never seen in all of my life around here.
Now, today there is orange, gooey substance on a tree from the rain.
But, when spring birds aren't chattering at daylight as they do,
And the beautiful scenic area where I live is tainted and not even safe,
My muse finds some other place to be and it is so hard to write.
All I can do is keep on trying. For now, the truth just needs to be known.
