My Life As A Child - 1st Grade

As I’m waiting for the bus for the first day of school,
I can’t help but notice how nervous you seem to be.
Don’t worry; the other kids will think that I am cool.
Trust me, you know better than anyone, the real me.

The last day of the school year is nearly upon us
And I just can’t believe how fast the time has gone by.
I will miss, so dearly, the morning rides on the bus,
But I can’t wait to spend the summer catching fireflies.

It’s the first day of school and I’m waiting for the bus.
Halloween has come and gone and Thanksgiving is here.
The long, Christmas vacation is nearly upon us.
It’s the beginning of a wonderful and New Year.

It is a nice poem. Nostalgic and wishful. Coming of age.
